Eloping at Thalia Haven

Thalia Haven is one of our favourite places to elope in Tasmania. Its stone buildings, sea views and wide coastal meadows feel wonderfully removed from everyday life. You have a beautiful place to stay, space for a personal ceremony and kilometres of wild coastline around you.

Set beside Great Oyster Bay on the East Coast of Tasmania, the private property has five kilometres of secluded shoreline and its own beach. Stone cottages gather around courtyards, with open grassland leading towards the water. It is a setting where you can feel like you are in the middle of nowhere, while staying somewhere comfortable and full of character.

Having accommodation and your celebration in one place gives the day room to unfold. Get ready slowly, exchange vows with the bay beyond, wander the grounds for portraits and settle into an evening together. The outdoor bath overlooking the water is another reason to make time for the stay itself.

Longer spring and summer evenings offer more time outdoors; autumn and winter call for earlier portraits and warmer layers. Coastal wind and changing weather are part of the setting in every season, so we help shape a flexible plan with a sheltered alternative.
