Eloping at Thalia Haven - Dani and Anthony

Eloping on Tasmania’s east coast gives you room to slow down. For Dani and Anthony, that meant getting ready together in a stone house, making their promises beside the sea and staying out for the last of the evening light. Their October elopement at Thalia Haven brought all of it into one place.

Both originally from Greymouth on New Zealand’s West Coast and now based in Queensland, they travelled south for a celebration with The Elopement Collective. Britt Withers brought the plans and people together, leaving Dani and Anthony free to enjoy being there.

A spring elopement at Thalia Haven

Thalia Haven is one of our favourite places to elope in Tasmania. Stone buildings open onto coastal gardens and grassland, with Great Oyster Bay just beyond. The property’s five kilometres of shoreline and private beach give it a feeling of seclusion that is hard to overstate: a beautiful place to stay, with the wild coast all around you.

Dani and Anthony’s photographs begin with those small, personal preparations. Her dress hung in a doorway overlooking the water. There were shoes, jewellery and green pendants laid out in the window light, and the two of them helping each other get ready. Brooke Marklew looked after Dani’s hair and makeup, while The Romantics made her peach and cream bouquet.

Down on the rocks, Josh Withers led their ceremony with the bay behind them. Dani and Anthony read their personal vows to each other, held hands and kissed above the water. The setting was extraordinary; the heart of it was simply the two people standing there together.

The evening, beautifully told

Harley from Bulb Creative photographed the day, from the quiet details inside to laughter in the long grass and sunset beside the stone house. The gallery follows them along the shoreline as the sky softens, ending with Anthony’s jacket around Dani’s shoulders and a kiss above the bay.

Afterwards, Dani wrote:

“Thank you again to you and Josh, for creating such a seamless process for us, we couldn’t have imagined anything better.”

And when their final gallery arrived, they were “absolutely in love with these images and the story telling of the evening.”

That is what we love about an elopement here: a personal ceremony, a small team who care about the experience, and time to enjoy the place you have chosen. Talk to Britt about your own Thalia Haven elopement.
