Eloping at Thalia Haven - Clara and Harry

Thalia Haven is one of our favourite places to elope in Tasmania. You have the stone house, the sea and kilometres of wild east-coast shoreline around you. It feels like being in the middle of nowhere, with somewhere beautiful and comfortable to come home to. For Clara and Harry, it was the setting for a wedding day with just the two of them and our team.

The property sits on the East Coast of Tasmania beside Great Oyster Bay, with five kilometres of secluded coastline and its own beach. Stone buildings gather around courtyards, while the bay is always close by. There is room to settle in, hear the water and let the day unfold without an audience. That combination of privacy, character and a spectacular natural setting is why we love bringing couples here.

From Brisbane to Tasmania’s wild coast

Clara and Harry met at a kickboxing class in Brisbane in 2018. Harry arrived with friends for a free trial; Clara knew him as a training partner for a year before their relationship became something more. An engagement in Queenstown followed, and on 26 November 2025 they chose Tasmania for their elopement.

Britt Withers planned and coordinated the day, bringing together a small team and an afternoon with room to breathe. Ben O’Brien styled Clara’s hair, Liv Rodgers did her makeup, and The Romantics made her white bouquet and Harry’s buttonhole. Ben and Liv stayed on as their witnesses: a lovely way to keep a just-us ceremony feeling personal.

Josh Withers married them beside the stone house, with the coast beyond. There were handwritten vows, rings exchanged and a kiss on the terrace. Afterwards, Clara described how Josh helped them:

“feel present and enjoy each other on the day with zero pressure or nerves.”

That is what we want an elopement to give you: the freedom to be there, together, enjoying the promises you are making.

Space to enjoy the day

Bulb Creative photographed Clara and Harry around the house and out in the coastal grassland. The gallery follows the small details as well as the landscape: getting ready by a window, the flowers, a hand held during their vows, then laughter and kisses in the late-afternoon light. With her dress and hair caught by the breeze and the bay behind them, the portraits hold the feeling of being somewhere wonderfully removed from everyday life.

Clara later thanked Britt and the team for photographs that “captured the day so beautifully”. The celebration itself was just as simple: two people, a thoughtful team and a place with enough beauty and space to let them enjoy it.

If you picture a Tasmanian elopement with the coastline to yourselves and a beautiful private stay, tell us about the day you have in mind. Thalia Haven is a place we are always happy to talk about.
