Eloping at The Keep - Meg and Ryan
There is something wonderfully absorbing about The Keep. A sandstone tower rises among enormous granite boulders, with forest rolling away in every direction. Up here in Goulds Country, in the hills behind Tasmania’s east coast, the landscape gives an elopement its own sense of occasion.
For Meg and Ryan, it became the setting for a day filled with warmth, a personal ceremony and photographs they would later describe as “epic”. Britt Withers brought the plans and team together through The Elopement Collective, leaving space for them to enjoy getting married in this extraordinary corner of Tasmania.
A ceremony above the forest
The photographs begin inside the tower: a wedding dress hanging against the window light, pale blue shoes with soft bows, a dark green suit and a bouquet of white roses by The Romantics. Outside, the sandstone walls and weathered boulders give way to layers of wooded hills.
That was the backdrop as Kath Tilly led Meg and Ryan’s ceremony. They held hands, smiled at each other and shared a kiss with the forest stretching out behind them. Afterwards, they told us:
“Kath Tilly was absolutely brilliant, a real highlight of the day.”
A beautiful location brings so much to an elopement. The person standing there with you, making the ceremony feel warm and personal, matters just as much.
A place with its own character
The Keep’s Scottish-inspired design makes it a distinctive place to marry. The tower, the vast rocks and the surrounding bush all feel part of the experience, from getting ready inside to stepping out into the open air for your vows.
Meg and Ryan’s portraits moved between those settings. Jenna Agius photographed them beside the tower, on the rocks above the forest and among the trees and ferns below. Meg’s veil lifted in the breeze; Ryan helped carry her dress as they walked. There were sweeping views, close embraces and plenty of laughter along the way.
When their photographs arrived, their message was simple:
“Thanks so much guys, these photos are epic!!”
Dylan Dirks also captured their elopement on film, bringing the movement and feeling of the day into the video alongside this story.
Thoughtfully planned, deeply felt
The words Meg and Ryan sent Britt say so much about the experience we want an elopement to be:
“It was a magical day. Thanks for all your help organising everything. I can’t believe we’re finally married!”
The Keep gives you a remarkable place to be together. A thoughtful plan and a team who care make room to enjoy it. Explore our guide to eloping at The Keep, or talk to Britt about your own Tasmanian elopement.
