Pop Up Wedding by The Elopement Collective

What is a pop up wedding?

A pop up wedding is a small and intimate wedding ceremony and wedding photography session on a certain day and time. It’s the middle ground between the registry office and a big white wedding. A pop up wedding is more about ‘being married’, and less the ‘getting married’. It’s a wedding venue and date shared by a handful of couples, instead of just you. It’s the wedding version of flying Qantas instead of buying your own personal jet.

Pop up weddings aren’t different to any other legally recognised wedding ceremony. They are wedding ceremonies that involve the two of you in love, a marriage celebrant, and 0–30 of your closest humans to witness, followed by a short photography session.

Before our re-brand to The Elopement Collective in early 2016, we traveled the globe as The Pop Up Wedding Co, creating special events in Hawaii, New Zealand, Bali and throughout Australia. We pull the best of the best of the wedding industry together to style a beautiful venue with florals and furniture, secure a photographer/videographer to capture it all and lovingly force our in-house Celebrant, Josh Withers, to come along and make it all legal. We marry a few couples across the day and basically allow you to spread the massive costs with a few other couples.

Pop up weddings are hosted in premier wedding locations. When you share the cost of a premier location among a number of couples, the price of producing a beautiful event in a bespoke location becomes more affordable and we can offer you ceremony and photography packages at amazing rates with the same fantastic team from The Elopement Collective, giving you peace of mind over your wedding plans, whilst compromising on date and time.

What does the pop-up wedding package include? Will I need to pay anything extra? and how long will it take?

We will be offering 1 to 2 hour packages to cater to all couples – some want something pretty and simple + others want a little something extra!

  • one marriage celebrant, Australian marriage legals, and a custom kick ass ceremony
  • one photographer, with two hours of photography
  • all photos available in an online photo gallery
  • minimum of 100 images edited, colour corrected and delivered digitally as high resolution printable jpegs
  • all images supplied as high resolution printable JPEG files
  • 0–30 guests (we can provide witnesses if you’re keeping this hush hush)
  • one epic bouquet & buttonhole to match the ceremony styling & florals
  • co-ordination of the day’s details- including: timeline, team & location.
  • the only optional extras will be additional florals (2nd bride or bridesmaids etc), live streaming of the wedding ceremony, and a beautiful film by Bulb Creative.

Depending on which date and time of day you choose, the amount of golden hour sunlight, time available for your ceremony, family photos, and portrait photos changes, as does the package price.

Remaining sessions can be viewed in the booking form, with prices starting at $2640 with optional wedding film, live streaming, and extra florals.

Do we need to complete any legal paperwork prior to the ceremony?

Yes, if you are having a legal marriage we will book in a time for our celebrant to sit down with you to complete the Notice of Intent to Marry (NOIM). The NOIM is a legally required document that must be completed no earlier than 18 months and no later than 1 month prior to the day. We will be in touch prior to your meeting to help you prepare for the meeting and arrange all the identification documents required to lodge the NOIM.

Can I bring in any of my suppliers?

In the spirit of a Pop Up Wedding, you are not permitted to bring in external suppliers as it can tend to slow the day down to the detriment of other couples with a few exceptions. The final pop up wedding of the day will have the option of hosting a reception in the venue.
