Eloping in Queenstown, New Zealand
Queenstown sits beside Lake Wakatipu on New Zealand’s South Island, with mountain ranges rising around the water. It is a beautiful setting for an elopement that combines an intimate ceremony with time to explore the landscape together.
The Elopement Collective brings the planning and people together around your Queenstown elopement. That might mean getting ready at your accommodation, gathering by a lake for your vows, then heading into the mountains with your photographer. The day can feel relaxed and personal while still giving you a real sense of adventure.
A lakeside ceremony at Moke Lake
Moke Lake sits among golden grass and mountain slopes outside Queenstown. Its open shoreline and reflections offer a lovely setting for a small ceremony, with the hills and water close around you.
Neve and Hamish’s elopement began at their Airbnb in Fernhill before they met their guests at Moke Lake for a ceremony with Josh Withers. George Bowden photographed the day, with white flowers by Orange Blossom Designs.
Queenstown helicopter elopements
A helicopter flight can bring a second setting to your elopement: mountain portraits after your lakeside vows. Neve and Hamish flew from Moke Lake to Big Geordie for photographs at 3,600 feet, looking across Lake Wakatipu towards Glenorchy, Pig Island and Pigeon Island.
You can choose a day built around the ceremony and landscape that appeal to you. We’ll talk through the setting, the team and how the different parts of your Queenstown elopement fit together.
Your stay and your elopement team
A Queenstown stay gives you a place to settle in, get ready and spend time together before the ceremony. Fernhill was the starting point for Neve and Hamish; their first look took place on the terrace, with the mountains already in view.
Your celebrant, photographer and flowers shape the experience as much as the landscape. We bring those details together through The Elopement Collective, so your day has room for both the meaningful moments and the adventure.
