# Eloping at Piermont Retreat

Piermont Retreat is a place we know through both work and time away together. We are experts at creating intimate gatherings here, and we love staying here ourselves. We recently returned for our own wedding anniversary, choosing the same coastal retreat that our couples love making part of their wedding experience.

Just south of Swansea on [Tasmania’s east coast](https://elopementcollective.com/locations/east-coast-tasmania), Piermont feels wonderfully removed from everyday life. Stone cottages, gardens and the water of Great Oyster Bay give a small celebration room to breathe. There is somewhere beautiful to get ready, somewhere to come back to after your ceremony, and a reason to stay a little longer.

## A small gathering, thoughtfully brought together

Our experience at Piermont helps us bring the practical details together around the day you want. We plan the ceremony, the people and the timing with you, leaving space to enjoy the place and each other. An intimate wedding can have its own rhythm: a quiet morning, personal vows, a walk for photographs and a meal together afterwards.

Piermont’s [stone amphitheatre](https://piermont.com.au/weddings/) offers a distinctive ceremony setting, with cypress trees framing the space. The retreat welcomes a limited number of elopements each year for celebrations with up to four guests. We help you work through the possibilities with the venue; confirm current availability, ceremony arrangements and any guest plans before booking your stay.

## Make the stay part of your wedding

We know how much our couples love staying at Piermont, and our own anniversary visit reminded us why. Your celebration can begin before the ceremony and continue after the photographs, with time to settle in and enjoy being together.

Choose from Piermont’s [cottages, spa suites and residences](https://piermont.com.au/), then make time for the beaches and walking trails. Homestead Restaurant overlooks Great Oyster Bay and serves a seasonal Mediterranean menu drawing on neighbouring farmers, local fishers and Tasmanian winemakers. A long lunch or dinner gives you another way to gather and celebrate; book directly with the restaurant around your plans.

## Getting to Piermont

Piermont is three kilometres south of Swansea, off the Tasman Highway. Its [arrival guide](https://piermont.com.au/getting-here/) allows around an hour and a half by car from either Hobart or Launceston. Give yourself time for the drive and arrive with room to settle in before your wedding day.

Longer spring and summer evenings leave more time for photographs outdoors. Autumn and winter invite an earlier ceremony and a slower evening together. Coastal wind and changing weather are part of the setting, so we help plan the timing with the conditions in mind.
