Eloping in Positano - Skyler and Zach

Eloping in Positano means a ceremony overlooking the sea, a walk through the town’s winding lanes and portraits with your feet in the water. For Skyler and Zach, it also meant bringing a small piece of home to Italy. They travelled from Canada with about six family members to meet our Australian Elopement Collective team on the Amalfi Coast.

The day was beautiful, hot and sunny, with pastel houses rising up the mountains behind them. Their celebration stayed intimate: the two of them, their family and personal vows that gave everyone a reason to make the journey.

Their ceremony took place at Hotel Buca di Bacco, overlooking the sea and the town. The Rispoli family’s connection to Positano reaches back to 1916, and the hotel carries that history in its classic rooms, sea-facing balconies and restaurant above Spiaggia Grande. It was a setting full of character for a small ceremony, with Positano all around them.

Josh Withers was their celebrant, creating space for those personal promises and the family there to hear them. Flora Garden - Positano, part of our collective on the coast, made the flowers. Skyler’s white bouquet, with its cascading orchids, sat beautifully against her lace dress and Zach’s blue suit.

After the vows, Jason Corroto photographed their walk through Positano and down to the beach. The gallery follows that journey: hands held on the hotel terrace, steps through the town, a kiss beside the beach umbrellas and laughter in the shallows. Shoes came off, the dress met the water and the hillside became the backdrop.

There is a rhythm to making photographs here. Even in summer, the mountains can put parts of Positano in shade before the sun has officially set, so the light changes earlier than the length of the day might suggest. Knowing the place helps us give the ceremony and portraits the time they need.

Skyler and Zach’s day brings together what we love about an Italian elopement with our Australian team: a remarkable place, a ceremony that feels personal and time to enjoy it with the people who matter. Start planning your Amalfi Coast elopement.
