Matt and Laura in the Tweed Valley

Matt and Laura wanted a ceremony that felt like them: meaningful, sincere and easy to be part of. Their elopement began at Grounds of Cabarita, before heading into the Tweed Valley for portraits and their vows. A lace dress, a black bow tie, flowers with warmth and texture, and open country around them. The day had room for the things they cared about, and room to simply enjoy being together.

Bulb Creative photographed it all, from the preparations at the beach house to the last light over the paddocks.

A relaxed beginning at Cabarita

The white weatherboards, timber steps and leafy garden at Grounds of Cabarita made a lovely starting point. Inside, Laura’s long-sleeved lace dress hung ready and her bouquet by Fifth Avenue Florist rested on the bed: pink proteas, pale roses, apricot tones and eucalyptus. There were conversations on the terrace, a bow tie to straighten, and a first look in the garden.

From Cabarita, the landscape opened into the valley. Matt and Laura walked along a country road, stood beside tall cane and found little moments together among the grasses and trees. Bulb’s photographs move between those broad views and the small details: lace against a white shirt, a hand at Laura’s waist, the flowers held close.

Short, sweet and full of meaning

With Josh Withers, their ceremony took place in the grass, with the evening light reaching across the valley. They held hands, read their vows and exchanged rings. There were smiles, tears and a kiss with Laura’s lace train trailing behind her.

Afterwards, Laura put into words exactly what they had hoped for:

“It was short and sweet, but so meaningful, sincere and genuine.”

They had talked for a long time about what they wanted from a ceremony. Choosing Josh was part of that decision: they wanted it to feel relevant, fun, relatable and memorable. Their feedback was a lovely reminder that an intimate ceremony can carry all that meaning while still feeling relaxed and entirely their own.

Comfortable enough to just be yourselves

For us at The Elopement Collective, the people around you matter as much as the place. Laura thanked Josh and Britt for the day, and shared how much the experience with Bulb had meant to them:

“They made us both feel so comfortable and just felt like real people.”

That ease is something we care about. You should be able to talk, laugh, take a breath and enjoy your wedding with a team you feel comfortable around. As Laura wrote, “We are so grateful on our wedding day we could just chat and chill with you all.”

The photographs finish with a rainbow above Matt and Laura and a golden sunset over the tree line. It was a beautiful close to a day that, in Laura’s words to The Elopement Collective, they “couldn’t have planned anything more perfect ourselves”.
